Angels are Human Beings

from the desk of Scott A. Muhammad to K. D. Nicholson.

Angels are Human

Angels, as described in the scriptures, cannot be made to be anything other than human beings. Because of "popular" literature over the past several centuries, Angels have been made to be spirits, supernatural beings, little spirits that sit on your shoulders, winged spirits that float around, and all sorts of things other than the truth. People's imaginations have run wild over the topic of Angels and have infected the truthful teaching of the reality of these Holy people. Having said that, I would caution you to focus on what the scriptures really say about Angels, exclusively. I know that you are not familiar with the Holy Qur'an and the Hadith (sayings) of the Prophet Muhammad, but the knowledge in them is indispensable for this subject. I'll use both the Bible and Holy Qur'an along with the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, and most importantly the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, Allah's Messiah.

First, I'll hit you off to a few verses you can look up and research, then I'll come at you with some sources you're not too familiar with (Qur'an), but that will verify the perspective I'm showing you.

We see Angels in the book of Genesis, 18th chapter:

1. And the Lord appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day; 2. And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground, 3. And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant: 4. Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree.

It doesn't get clearer than that. Were these three images or spirits that looked like men? The Bible continues, Genesis 18: 7, 8:

7. And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetched a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it. 8. And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat.

Spirits don't eat. These were definitely human beings Abraham was entertaining. The scripture says that one of them was the Lord; who were the other two? Dig Genesis verse 18: 22:

22. And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the Lord.

And if there is any "misinterpretation" or "difference of interpretation" of these verses, the Bible continues to make it clear: (Read the whole of chapters 18 & 19) Genesis 19: 3:

3. And he (Lot) pressed upon them (the two visitors) greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.

Ok, so they are said to be men, they eat, they rest, and they lay down (Gen 19: 4). The reason the Lord visited Abraham was to announce and carry out the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah for the crime of homosexuality. The homosexuals saw the two men enter Lot's house and had this to say: Genesis 19: 5

5. And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? Bring them out unto us, that we may know them (have sex with them).

Any room for doubt or alternate interpretation is, by now, totally obliterated. The two Angels that were sent to Sodom and Gomorrah were men, human beings. Is it important for you to believe that Angels are some "supernatural" beings? What does "supernatural" mean? Super means above or higher, and natural refers to the reality in which we live. I've always disliked the term supernatural because the person using it, by using it, presupposes that their level of knowledge and understanding is the standard by which all knowledge is to be measured. That is pure arrogance. I always say that such people are really sub-natural! Once upon a time, electricity would have been considered supernatural; magnetism was supernatural. But once man learns of these mysteries, they become quite natural and understandable. So too is it with Angels.

As we saw in these Bible passages, Angels are to carry out Allah's orders on many different tasks. We already know that the prophets were human beings. When someone sends a representative, you send someone like yourself, that can carry across your message as you would carry it. So too with Allah; he sends Angels and appoints prophets, both human, because He himself is a human being. That is a lengthy topic for another time but I bring it up because Angels could not represent Allah unless they were just like Him, though quite lesser in power. The book of Exodus 15: 3 says of God:

3. The Lord is a man of war; the Lord is His Name.

The Angel, Gabriel spoke to Daniel: Daniel 8: 15, 16:

15. And it came to pass, when I, even I, Daniel had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man. 16. And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.

Again, described as man. Remember this particular Angel, Gabriel; he's pretty famous. There is evidence that the offices of certain types of Angels are continuous. Like the messenger Angel, he's always called Gabriel even though it may not necessarily be the same Angel/person. Messengers are called Gabriel. Read verse Daniel 9: 21:

21. Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation.

The New Testament accounts of Angels are equally clear about their nature. There isn't much about Angels here, but there is a common reference between the gospels that describe them. I find it interesting that the four gospels describe this event four different ways, with only a few points of similarity, one of which is that Angels are human. This account is about the events directly after the "crucifixion." Jesus was buried and this is how it is described: Matthew 28: 1 - 7:

1. In the end of the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. 2. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. 3. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: 4. And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. 5. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. 6. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

The Gospel of Mark puts the same event this way: Mark 16: 1 - 6

1. And when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him. 2. And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun. 3. And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre? 4. And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great. 5. And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted. 6. And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted; Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth which was crucified; he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.

The Gospel of Luke renders this event in the following way: Luke 24: 1 - 6

1. Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. 2. And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. 3. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. 4. And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments. 5. And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? 6. He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee.

The Gospel of John says it in an almost totally different way. The other gospels don't mention anything about the Disciples being at the tomb, but this one does. Also it says that Mary Magdalene was alone when she approached the sepulchre (No Mary mother of James, Salome or Joanna); saw the stone rolled away, and that she ran to get the Disciples. The Disciples investigate the tomb and then the scriptures say: John 20: 11 -12

11. But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre, 12. And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.

As you can see, the stories don't match, even down to the number of Angels, who were at the grave, and other details. Testimony like this would be thrown out in court cuz somebody's lying! What's important for this letter (other than proving that the Bible is not pure) is that the Angels are described as human beings. We saw in the story with Abraham that these aren't just apparitions, or unearthly beings appearing as humans, but actual humans. So is the case here.

The Book of Revelations is another major source of Angelic knowledge but it's a bit too complicated for this letter. The Honorable Elijah Muhammad explained it and I'll share all that at another time. There is one verse I would like to point out about Angels, Rev. 21: 17

17. And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.

In all of these biblical references, and several more that are not mentioned, Angels are described as men. Human men.

I remember you saying something about the "sons of God" being the fallen angels and that these mystical beings had sex with human women and that the offspring were giants. Go read the actual scripture; there's nothing of the sort. Genesis chapter 6: 2 - 4 says

2. That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took wives of all which they chose. 3. And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh; yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. 4. There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

There's nothing that says the "sons of God" were Angels. In fact, these verses refer to the early days of race mixing on the earth. After the Caucasian devil was grafted from the original Black man (a whole different letter!) 6,000 years ago, there was a separation of the people. The newly made people (Adamic race, white race) were allowed to live among the original Black people in the land of Arabia. They, the whites, immediately began causing trouble; telling lies, and causing conflict among the original people. For the first time, the limits of violence were broken and the original people began to fight among one another. It was discovered that the whites were the cause of this trouble and they were banished (Adamic race cast from heaven or paradise: Arabia). They were sent 2,200 miles across the burning hot sands into the barren, cold land of Europe.

This is the true reference of the story of Adam and Eve; its real history told in symbolic language. The entire book of Genesis is about how the white race began and how they achieved power in the earth. As is the nature of people; some of the original people (sons of God) hid their newfound plaything (daughters of men) out of fascination and kept them in Arabia, so that not all of the Caucasians were sent away. These whites are the first ones to mix with the original Black people of Arabia (parts of which were called the land of Punt in those days) and so, today you have the brown, mixed people that you now know as the Arabs (men of renown: honor). So, I guess, in a way, you are just like them! (smile) And you can be a giant among men, I believe you have that yet to do, and you'll do it. There's one more topic you brought up that needs clarification; and it will provide me with the perfect segue into the knowledge of Angels from the Holy Qur'an. You mentioned fallen angels again in reference to Lucifer being cast from heaven. Again, this is a simple scripture that has ignited the imagination and fantasy of twisted, petty little scholars who want to dazzle rather than teach people. These few verses have inspired paintings and stories and myths that have become more the fabric of what the world thinks of Lucifer than the actual scriptures! To really understand it, you need the entire knowledge of the enemy. The whole of Isaiah chapter 14 must be read to get the proper perspective, but the one verse of focus is verse 12:

12. How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

First, the name Lucifer must be dealt with. It is not the same as Satan, or the Devil. Check this out, my brother: Lucifer is a Latin name, inserted into the Hebrew scriptures by a Roman era cat named Saint Jerome in the 4th century AD! Current Bibles aren't based on the original Hebrew scriptures, but on mistranslations of mistranslations! Lucifer comes from two Latin words luce ferre, which means bringer of light! The original Hebrew words, Helal son of Shahar, according to Jewish sources, means "Day star, son of the Dawn" and refers to, again according to Jewish sources, a Babylonian King who oppressed the Jews. This "Lucifer" refers neither to Angels nor Satan in the classical sense. It does refer to the actual Satanic or Adamic people as The Honorable Elijah Muhammad makes it perfectly clear.

The whole of Isaiah chapter 14 refers to God's ultimate overthrow of the satanic people's rule over the people of the earth. Verse 16 helps put things in perspective:

16. They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;

As always, we are dealing with human beings. Man, this whole chapter is so deep, I could go on for 10 more pages! It's about an overly arrogant and haughty people who shall be broken and brought down by God. Isaiah 14: 10

10. "All they shall speak and say unto thee, art thou also become weak as we? Art thou become like unto us?"

This Lucifer, wicked ruler, oppressive power has the identifying attitude as follows: Isaiah 14: 13, 14

13. For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14. I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

Whether a person is a God (yes, we are Gods), devil, jinn, or Angel is determined by their mentality, attitude, temperament, motivations, intentions and such. Also, we have inclination to these classifications by birth, but mostly by our attitudes.

Compare the above verse to 2 Thessalonians chapter two. We find here a good definition of devil. Verse 3, 4:

3. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come (gathering unto Christ, see verse 1), except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4. Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

This man of sin has the attitude that he can be better than God. And he shows the world that he is God. This is exactly the word and work of the Caucasian people! They have been a very arrogant people who, as a race, not necessarily individuals, have shown that they have no respect for the power of God and that they can do whatever He does. This attitude is shown clearly in the Holy Qur'an. They show a white Jesus even though they know Jesus was black so that the people will associate a white Jesus with being the Son of God; and if the son is white the Father must be white! The Pope of Rome worships a Black Christ, so why won't he tell everyone else to do the same? One of the greatest tricks Satan (white race) has used is to convince the world that the devil (himself) is some mystical creature living underground that you'll meet after you're dead and you go to hell.

So, the "fallen angel" story falls all to pieces. No fallen Angels in Genesis; no fallen Angels in Isaiah, and these are the two sources of "fallen Angel" teachings.

The fall of man, or the casting out of Satan is also related in the Holy Qur'an, and there are many references to Angels being Human in Islamic sources.

The Holy Qur'an

The Holy Qur'an says in Sura (chapter) 7: 11, 12

11. And We indeed created you, then We fashioned you, then We said to the angels: Make submission to Adam. So they submitted, except Iblis; he was not of those who submitted. 12. He (Allah) said: What hindered thee that thou didst not submit when I commanded thee? He said: I am better than he; Thou hast created me of fire, while him Thou didst create of dust.

Several things need to be clarified. Iblis is an Arabic word for devil, and is in fact the origin of devil. The Muslims controlled Spain for 800 years and a lot of Arabic mixed in with Spanish. In Spanish the word became Diablo from Iblis (D + Iblis, drop the s becomes D+Ibli or Diablo); from there the word came into English where b's and v's are interchangeable and Diablo became dia+v+lo or devil.

In this verse, Allah is speaking to Angels and gives them a command to submit to Adam. They all submitted, except Iblis. Iblis was not only in the company of Angels but is one of the Angels. His rejection of Allah's order makes him a devil. In Arabic there is a difference between Iblis (devil) and Shaitan (Satan). A devil is a person whose evil is confined to themselves, but satan is a person who spreads their evil to infect others. So Satan is a devil maker. This can get confusing unless you keep in mind that these are human beings, all of them. Being a devil is a state of mind, inordinate arrogance and disrespect of Divine authority. That makes a person a devil. Angels are just the opposite. They are righteous and respect Divine authority.

So Iblis was an Angel until his faith was tested by Allah's command. It was exposed that he really was a racist in thinking that he was better than someone else because of some characteristic he had, and thus was too arrogant. Then he became a devil. Later, in the Qur'an he becomes Shaitan or Satan, when he begins to deceive other people making them weak. What we're seeing is the shifting of mentalities, not mysticism or magic. The Holy Qur'an was revealed to Prophet Muhammad by Allah through an Angel named Jabriel (Arabic), also known as Gabriel. A popular Hadith (recorded saying) of prophet Muhammad himself is as follows:

It is reported on the authority of Umar son of. al-Khattab that he said:One day, while we were sitting with Rasulallah (the messenger of God, Muhammad) , a man appeared before us. His garments were sparkling white; his hair the darkest black. No signs of travel appeared on him. None of us recognized him. He went to the Prophet and sat in front of him, placing his knees before [the Prophet's] knees. He also placed his hands upon the Prophet's thighs, saying: 'Muhammad, What is Islam?' Rasulallah, replied, saying: 'Islam is to testify that there is no deity save Allah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah; to establish regular prayer; to give regular alms ("zakat"); to fast Ramadan; and, to visit Allah's House as a pilgrim, if you are able.' The stranger said, 'You speak the truth.' Umar said: 'We were amazed that he would ask him [a question], then tell him he was truthful!' The stranger said: 'Muhammad, what is faith?' Rasulallah replied, saying: 'Faith is to believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and to believe in [the Divine] Power ("Qadar"), its good and its ill.' The stranger said: 'You speak the truth.' Then, he said: 'What is Ihsan?' Rasulallah replied, saying: 'Ihsan is to serve Allah as though you see Him, but if you see Him not, then [to serve Him knowing] He sees you.' The stranger said: 'You speak the truth.' Then, he said: 'Can you inform me about the Hour ("Qiamat" the day of Resurrection)?' Rasulallah replied, saying: 'The questioned knows no more about it then the questioner.' The stranger said: 'Then tell me of its signs.' Rasulallah said: '[Among] its signs are that the slave woman shall give birth to her mistress, and that the poor, naked and barefoot, the herders of sheep, shall compete in raising tall buildings.' The stranger tarried but a moment before departing. The Prophet said to me: 'Umar, do you know who was the questioner?' I replied that Allah and His Messenger knew better. Rasulallah said: 'This is Jibril. He came to teach you your religion.'

Sura (chapter) 2 verse 97, 98 of the Holy Qur'an says:

97. Say: Whoever is an enemy to Jabriel, for surely he revealed it (the Qur'an) to thy heart by Allah's command, verifying that which is before it and guidance and glad tidings for the believers. 98. Whoever is an enemy to Allah and His Angels and His Messengers and Jabriel and Michael, then surely Allah is an enemy to disbelievers.

This is the same Jabriel that visited Prophet Muhammad and asked him questions concerning the faith of Islam. In fact, it was always Jabriel that visited Prophet Muhammad over several years, revealing Allah's messages. We see in the above Hadith that Jabriel, the Angel, was a man, with jet black hair. There is another powerful portrayal of Angels in the Qur'an. You are familiar with the annunciation of Jesus' birth. Angels spoke to Mary and told her that her child would be a holy baby. There is a similar story in the Qur'an, chapter 19 verse 16, 17

16. And mention Mary in the Book. When she drew aside from her family to an eastern place; 17. So she screened herself from them. Then We sent to her Our spirit and it appeared to her as a well made man.

Powerful. As I read the scriptures, I always try to focus on what is actually on the page without resorting to commentaries, scholar's interpretations and such. It says what it says, and we have to have faith in the intelligence and spitit Allah has given us to interpret His Word. With all this evidence about the humanity of Angels and devils, would you take the word of some person who wrote a book over your own intelligence? If what I've written here makes any sense to you and is illuminating, then all Praise is due to Allah. The Qur'an makes another point in an argument against the disbelievers: sura 6: 8, 9:

8. And they say: Why has not an Angel been sent down to him (Muhammad)? And if We send down an Angel, the matter would be decided and then they would not be respited. 9. And if We had made him an Angel, We would certainly have made him a man, and thus made confused to them what they confuse.

Angels are made as men (as all men are). The disbelievers wonder why an Angel has not been sent with Muhammad to back up his claim that he was a prophet. Allah counters, explaining that if He sent an Angel, that Angel would still be man, as Muhammad is a man and they would still be confused. Whether Allah sent this man, Muhammad, or some other man, an Angel, the disbelievers would still disbelieve. In another place, the Holy Qur'an makes a similar point. Holy Qur'an 43: 60

60. And if it were Our Will, We could make Angels from amongst you, succeeding each other on the earth.

Angels (obedient people) can be made out of the group whom Allah is addressing, because Angels are a type of people. Again, being an Angel is a state of mind and a condition of obedience to God. I hope this little letter helps you to think again about the reality of Angels and what they are and who they are. Because you will see them work in this nation. They've been missioned to help destroy this country for its crimes against us as the Angels who were sent to Sodom and Gomorrah. The Honorable Elijah Muhammad told us that there were 10,000 of these Angels in America right now, and that at the proper time they would go into action. They live like you and me. They have homes, shop, work, interact with others and die. Their humanity does not detract from their divinity at all but their humanity, rather, verifies your divinity! Feel free to share this letter with whomever you want and call me whenever you want. May Allah bless you and your son with peace and increased knowledge always.

Love,
Scott
